August 28, 2010 in Beijing, the official opening of the first World Games of Martial Arts Sportaccord Combat Games Beijing 2010 took place. The ceremony was held at the National Indoor Stadium in the Chinese capital, in front of a packed arena with 20,000 spectators.

The colorful show hosted a parade of athletes and vivid artistic representation. Apart from Chinese artists the event was attended by representatives of Russia, Italy, Japan, USA, Argentina. The opening ceremonies concluded with world-renowned actor Jackie Chan, who sang a song written specially for the opening of the Games. The event was also attended by Ambassador of the Games , multiple world champion in combat sambo and mixed martial arts on Fedor Emelianenko.

At the first World Games of Martial Arts competitions were held featuring 13 kinds of Olympic Games and Olympic style of martial arts such as aikido, judo, jujitsu, karate, kendo, kick boxing, muay thai, sambo, sumo, taekwondo, wrestling and wushu . The event is held under the auspices of an international organization “SportAkkord (previously – GAISF), which seeks the promotion of sport throughout the world.
