Since making his professional debut in September 2007, Mike Geurin has quietly racked up an impressive 8-1 record and is headed into the M-1 Selection 2010 – Americas tournament finals riding a three fight win streak and Fight of the Night honors thanks to his impressive performance against Shane Primm.
“My hat goes off to Shane,” says Geurin. “This was the toughest fight of my career. He just wouldn’t go down,” says Geurin. “I was back to training a week after the fight and was lucky enough to come away relatively injury-free. Now we’re focussed on September 18th and winning the tournament. I have to give a big shout out to M-1 for this opportunity.”
M-1 Global’s Director of Operations, Evegeni Kogan, isn’t surprised by Mike Geurin’s performances in the Selections tournament to date; “Simply put, Mike comes to work and gets the job done. Even though he was relatively unknown back in April, Mike has made a statement in his recent bouts and fans and media are taking notice. I think we’re in for a spectaculart tilt between Mike Geurin and Tyson Jeffries for the Middleweight finals. One of these guys will be our champion.”
Geurin will certainly have his hands full with Team Quest’s gritty, hard-nosed grinder, Tyson ‘The Anti-Hero’ Jeffries who’s won four of his last five bouts and is primed to capture the middleweight title as well. The lead up to this clash is certainly the calm before the storm set to take place within the confines of the M-1 ring.
The M-1 Selection – Americas tournament Final round takes place live on September 18th at Bally’s Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Tickets are available through www.TicketMaster.com. Doors open at 7.00 pm, first fight at 7:30 PM/ET.
Free broadcast coverage of the entire 2010 M-1 Selection tournament will be available at a later date to viewers worldwide on www.M-1global.com and selected affiliate partner sites.
