This Saturday 2 light heavyweight prospects seek to keep unblemished records intact and a trip to the finals of the M-1 Selection: Americas tournament. The event takes place at Bally’s hotel and casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey with the opening bell ringing at 7:30 p. m..
Light heavyweight division.
Chris Sydnor vs. Daniel Viscaya
Light heavyweight contender Robert Rodriguez withdrew himself from the M-1 Selection Americas tournament and his bout against Daniel Vizcaya due to a back injury and is being replaced by Chris ‘The Finisher’ Sydnor, who has taken the fight on short notice.
As a hard-nosed 26 year old fighter out of Bay Shore, New York, Sydnor has been in wars of his own with a recent decision loss to Bruce Monroe at the third instalment of Broad Avenue Brawlers mixed martial event. Even on the short notice, Sydnor is ready to go, “Fighting is what I do. It’s in my blood. I’m ready to step into the ring at any time.”
Also entering the ring with an unblemished record is Daniel “The Bulldog” Vizcaya. Viscaya who sports a 2-0 professional record fights out of Power Martial Arts in Aurora Illinois. 11-0 as an amateur, Viscaya was a multiple title holder before turning pro.
With an impressive TKO stoppage of Ariel Sepulveda at 4:40 of the first round in his quarterfinal match up, this full time truck driver has shifted his quest for the finals into high gear.
Byron Byrd vs. Sammy Collingwood
American Top Team has a rich tradition of producing winning fighters, as a young prospect making your professional debut the pressure is on to do your best and represent your school. The pressure seemed to have no effect on light heavyweight Byron Byrd. The young fighter passed his first test at the M-1 Selection: Americas tournament when he scored a :10 second KO over Mike ” Shake-n-Bake” Sheckenberg.
First round stoppages are nothing now to Byrd who has a combined record ( amateur and professional) of 5-0 with 4 first round stoppages.
Stepping in as a late replacement due to injury is Sammy ” Big Daddy” Collingwood. Fighting out of Crestview Florida, Collingwood who is 3-1 as a professional is a solid well rounded fighter who’s looking to make the most of this opportunity.
