Meisner vs. Gallicchio:Rising Stars to Cross Paths on the M-1 Selection Battlefield

aaron_meisner-courtesy-of-5-ounces-of-painOn Saturday August 7th at Bally’s Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, , the M-1 2010 – Americas Semi Finals marks the crossroad where welterweights Aaron Meisner and Tom Gallicchio will square off in a clash to determine which warrior advances to the Selections Finals in September.

Philly, PA native Aaron Meisner is looking to continue his immediate impact in the M-1 Global welterweight brackets after devastating Fernades with a textbook Thai clinch and thunderous knees which forced his opponent to quit on June 26 at the Americas second round. Meisner, who was cast as part of The Ultimate Fighter’s seventh season, has now gone 4-2 over his last six bouts and is looking to seize victory and extend his current three-fight winning streak since dropping to welterweight.

“What I like most about Meisner,” says Evgeni Kogan, Director of Operations for M-1 Global, “is his and exciting fighting style. He has a classic Thai clinch and once he locks it down, he follows it up with crisp accurate striking. I won’t be surprised if Meisner and Gallicchio make this bout ‘fight of the night’.”

New Jersey native, Tom Gallicchio is coming off an incredible performance of his own, earning a split-decision victory over Reggie Pena. With stellar displays of crisp striking, Gallicchio continuously countered and found opportunities to go to the canvass where he laid out some serious ground and pound, leaving the referee on the verge of stopping the fight on multiple occasions.

One thing is for certain, whichever one of these exciting mixed martial artists emerges victorious, they best be able to recover and prepare for their Finals match-up on September 18th against the winner of wild-card returnee Reggie Pena vs. Colin Schrader.

The M-1 Selection 2010 – Americas Semi Final round takes place live on August 7th at Bally’s Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Tickets are available through . Doors open at 7.00 pm, first fight at 7:30 PM/ET.
