The match-up between relative newcomers, Pat Bennett and Mehdi Hassan is being hyped as ‘the bout’ to produce serious collisions inside the M-1 ring when they meet August 7th at Bally’s Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey for the M-1 Selection 2010 – Americas Semi Finals as both fighters will be looking to continue their string of first-round knock-out victories.

Hassan fought a perfect battle against Robert Leonard in the Americas second round event on June 26th and earned himself a first round KO victory that had the crowd on its feet. “I was totally aware of my position in the ring against him. I was able to push the action yet be patient at the same time – then BAM, I rocked him with a right and dumped him face-first on the canvass.”

Bennett’s bout against Nick Smiley that same night was equally compelling. It took the mild-mannered monster a total of 37 seconds to destroy Smiley by TKO and leave him in the ring busted and bloodied. Team Bombsquad’s manager, Ryan Ciotoli, wasn’t surprised in the least by his protégé’s performance, “If you look at his record overall going into that bout, Pat was 5-1. He’s a three time All-American wrestler, so he already possessed a great base and he’s an electrifying striker; now he has six first-round wins. I definitely consider Bennett to be a prospect in the heavyweight division and the M-1 Selection Americas tournament.”

One thing is for certain, whichever one of these exciting mixed martial artists emerges victorious, they best be able to recover and prepare for their Finals match-up against the winner of the bout between American Top Team’s Kenny ‘Deuce’ Garner and 6’9″ beast Andrei Kapilou.
