M-1Global.com recently had the opportunity to speak with Lightweight semi-finalist Josh Bacallao as he prepares for his semi-final match up with George Sheppard on August 7, at Bally’s in Atlantic City, New Jersey as M-1 Global Presents the 2010 M-1 Selection Americas tournament semi final round.
In the interview Bacallo discusses the controversay surrounding his opening roud match up, the preparation for his upcoming fight, , and what the opportunity means to him.
As many may remember Lakeland, Florida native Josh “Iron Heart” Bacallao was set to take on Whippany, New Jersey’s Josh “The Prince of MMA” Key and this bout has had a controversial beginning, middle and end. Key’s trash-talk was followed up by his inability to make the 155 pound mark by a whopping six pounds and then he fell outside the ropes during the first round of the match-up which resulted in New Jersey State Athletic Commission doctor’s halting the bout as Key’s ability to continue was in question; leaving the bout to be deemed a ‘no-contest’.
The M-1 Selection2010 – Americas tournament third round takes place live on August 7 at Bally’s Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Tickets are available through www.TicketMaster.com. Doors open at 7:00 pm, first fight at 7:30 PM/ET.
