The M-1 Selection tournament format provides an even playing field for both experienced professional’s who are looking to move forward to a bigger stage, as well as upstart fighters looking to prove their place among the sports best up and coming fighers. In the middleweight division of the Eastern European semi-finals , a battle between contrasting styles has the potential to steal the show.
On May 28 in Kiev, Ukraine M-1 Global will be holding the Semi-Final round of fights for the Eastern European region of the 2010 M-1 Selection.  The first of two middleweight  battles feature  a pair of fighters with very contrasting styles. Alexey Belyaev of team Action force and Murad Magomedov of Rusfighters.
Alexey – is an experienced fighter who prefers a measured, gradual and tuned tactical warfare.. Preference is given to his ground game where he has the ability to end a fight with any number of chokes..In Eastern Europe, he is often compaired to a large royal python, which is slowly but surely twists his victim until suffocation. In the quarterfinal match had a hard fought battle with a representative of Combat Bears Hasan Umalatovym. Both fighters came to win, however Belyaev tactically out matched his opponent , winning a split decision victory. Alexey is a champion of St. Petersburg in combat sambo and mixed martial arts in his record of 7 wins and 3 losses.
Quite the opposite of gradual and measured his rival. Murad Magomedov – is like a bunch of concentrated energy and rage, which moves at great speed around the ring, constantly attacking his opponent and does not hesitate for a moment, whether it be fighting on his feet or on the ground. Murad continues to train intensively and has gained five victories in succession with each fight showing marked expansion of of his overall technical game. In the quarterfinal match he was fearless not being afraid to go to the canvas with a world champion in jiu-jitsu Ruslan Khaskhanova . This bold move paid off as Magomedow was able to secure the victory by submission over is opponent.
With Murad progressing with each fight of the M-1 Selection, and Alexey determined to win the title , they have a cross roads in the semifinals and something has to give as one man will advance and the other will go home. The sami-final will bring us fighters whose styles and behavior in the ring are completely opposite: ice or fire, a python or a tiger, a granite cliff, or a storm – who is stronger?
