The biggest Russian sensation of 2009 gets his reward

During the inaugural M-1 2010 Eastern Europe event Alexander Volkov, the winner of an M-1 2009 Russia Final fight was awarded an exclusive finger ring as a reward for exceptional performance.

On December 3 young Alexander Vokov (5-1-0) had to meet the biggest test of his career in extremely experienced Ibragim Magomedov (22-8-1). After three rounds the unanimous decision victory was given to Alexander.

When just a few days prior to the Finals it was announced that Ibragim Magomedov will represent his team in the heavyweight the fans were curious which was going to become a victim of this veteran. The choice was made and Volkov was the one.

A young up-and-coming guy, 7 foot tall, Alexander started training MMA in the professional team of Red Devil just one year ago. He got 4 victories against one defeat from a seasoned veteran before meeting Magomedov. Anyway, on paper Alexander has nothing to boast when opposed by Magomedov who used to fight at the biggest stages of the world.

Generally, Alexander’s friends wished him to suffer as little as possible and show his best when he was trying to make it to the judges. He listened to them and showed his best. But not in the way everyone was expecting him to do!

As a result, this 22-year-old fighter would not only make it to the end of the final round but managed to win in the judges’ eyes and making it into the list of the Russian elite heavyweights.
