lloydmarshbanksM-1 Global heavyweight Lloyd “Kadillac” Marshbanks is one of the most unique fighters in all of mixed martial arts. So unique that he is often misunderstood. A winner of 52 MMA contests against just eight losses, Marshbanks’ record is often discounted because many of his fights took place in non-sanctioned environments. His non-sanctioned fights have drawn comparisons at times to Kimbo Slice, to which Marshbanks contends that he was doing backyard fights long before Kimbo came onto the scene (and long before YouTube even existed) and that he was fighting competitors who also had formal martial arts training.

The bulk of Marshbanks’ unsanctioned fights also took place in at a time when MMA was not legalized. Soon after its legalization in , Marshbanks once again found it difficult to find fights as many managers and promoters who mis-judged him by his rotund physique soon learned he was no tomato can. After embarrassing one too many “up-and-coming heavyweights,” Marshbanks soon found himself on a world tour as he sought out fights in , , , , and .
