Tonight on HDNet at 8 p.m., the “M-1 Challenge Presented by Affliction” will feature a best-of-five series between the World Team and Russia Legion.
The two Group D rivals will go head-to-head in the resort town of Bourgas, Bulgaria in what turned out to be the largest MMA event in the country’s history.
Led by lightweight Yura Ivlev, Legion is out to prove that it is not only the number one team in Russia, but that it is the team to beat in the M-1 Challenge.
Viewers will get to see Ivlev tested by the always-exciting Romano De Los Reyes in a bout determined by M-1 Challenge officials as the “Fight of the Night.”
The improved Legion squad also features undefeated welterweight prospect Magomed Shikshabekov, who will put his unblemished record on the line against Jason Ponet of the World Team.
The World Team, a team created by M-1 Challenge officials to give nations across the globe that did not have enough talent to field an entire team a chance to be represented, is led by veteran heavyweight Michael Kitta.
Kitta will look to rebound after losing his M-1 Challenge debut last season when he faces Russian heavyweight submission specialist Akhmed Sultanov.
The 16-team season-long M-1 Challenge not only will continue tonight but can be seen in the United States all year long each Friday at 8 p.m. ET on HDNet.
